Traditional 2D ultrasounds provide flat, two-dimensional black and white images. 3D ultrasound uses sound waves to create a three-dimensional still image of your baby. 4D ultrasound adds the element of time, showing real-time movement, like yawning or waving. HD Live (also sometimes called 5D) is an advanced technology that provides even greater image clarity, depth perception, and skin-tone realism, making the images appear more lifelike.

An elective ultrasound is a non-medical ultrasound performed for the purpose of keepsake images and bonding with your baby. It is separate from the diagnostic ultrasounds ordered by your healthcare provider for medical reasons.
-
Elective ultrasounds offer a unique opportunity to see detailed images and movements of your baby in a relaxed and comfortable environment. It can be a wonderful bonding experience for you, your partner, and other family members, and you'll receive precious keepsakes to cherish.
-
Absolutely not. Our elective ultrasounds are for entertainment and keepsake purposes only and do not replace the important diagnostic ultrasounds performed by your doctor or midwife to monitor your baby's health and development. You should continue to attend all your scheduled medical ultrasound appointments.
-
The optimal time for 3D/4D/HD Live ultrasounds is generally between 24 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. During this period, your baby has developed more facial features and has enough subcutaneous fat for clearer images, but there's still plenty of amniotic fluid for good visibility. However, good images can sometimes be obtained outside this range depending on various factors.
-
Our sessions typically last between 5-30 minutes. This includes preparation time, the ultrasound scan itself, and time to review and select your images.
-
You don't need to bring much! We recommend drinking plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment, as this can help with image clarity. You are welcome to bring family members or friends to share this special experience.
-
Yes, well-behaved children are welcome to share in this experience with you. However, please be mindful that the ultrasound room needs to remain relatively calm for optimal imaging.
-
You will typically receive your printed photos at the end of your session. Digital images and videos are usually sent via email within 24-48 hours after your appointment. USB drives or other physical keepsakes will be provided at the time of your appointment.

Ultrasound technology has been used safely in pregnancy for many years. Our equipment operates within established safety guidelines, and our sonographers are trained in safe ultrasound practices. The exposure time during our elective ultrasounds is limited.

As our elective ultrasounds are for keepsake purposes and are not considered medical procedures, they are not covered by insurance.
